It
was a fine chilly afternoon; after my classes were over I was heading back to
my hostel when a friend of mine asked me to accompany him to the bank as he had
to deposit some cash. Though a lazy and home sick person, still unwillingly I
agreed to string along with him. On reaching the bank premises I decided to
stay back on his car and asked him to deposit the cash quickly and come but he
insisted on coming with him instead. Living in a patriarchal society, every
time we reach in any office or work place firstly we always tend to look at the
reception expecting to find a beautiful female receptionist sitting there, me a
part of the same society did the similar chattel. However to my astonishment I
found something else there, I rather learnt something new. Yes, there was a
female receptionist and she was beautiful too. She was answering the phone
call, guiding the people, attending the numerous queries, but she was blind,
even I too was dumbstruck, when I learnt it the first time.
Though
this was an over shadowed incident and may be like every other person I too had
overlooked it, if not given it a deep thought. But, the simple incident
compelled me to think, it taught me a lesson that I am sharing with all my
readers.
Every
time we are being entangled by problems, we start complaining and cursing our
lady luck but the receptionist in the bank made me realize that yes people are
living in much worse state then us, still they are leading a better life. Life
is full of ups and downs, surprises and consists of various colors. One moment
we giggle with happiness and other brings sorrows. At some point we long for
success and at the other we are successful. Amidst all feelings life continues
to flow and we continue to live with hopes of new color, bright colors of
happiness and expecting a new motion to take us high…high above.
There
where lies the difference?? Why some are always showered with happiness and
others can’t help themselves shedding tears??
I feel that difference lies in the mentality and the way we introspect
ourselves. It’s true that happiness is short-lived, but it’s the hope of
happiness that keeps one smiling. Hope makes the real difference. With every
setting sun, another day flies of our life. We never know whether we would see
the rising sun of the next day. Still, we continue to smile and live in the joy
with hopes of a new beginning a better tomorrow. It’s hope that keeps us alive.
Living is not just about being alive physically, but it’s also about enjoying
every moment of your aliveness. Someone has very rightly said, “Don’t add days
to life, add life to days”. We die when hope dies.
Hope
is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. Stop
complaining and start living. Hope for every good thing to happen, if nothing
is good than try to find a way to change it. Lastly, sharing this extract from
my diary I can just hope that you find your hopes and make your life beautiful.
Life is what we make it. You can make your ordinary life extraordinary. Do what
you love and love what you do.
