In India it is the second cricketing event for which every Indian Cricket fan waits for a whole year. When bollywood Shahanshah Amitabh bachchan came in KBC, at 9PM traffic on road becomes very less and same goes for this cricketing event named IPL (Indian Premier League). It was started 5 years ago with the aim of finding new players for Indian Cricket and it not only helped Indian Cricket, it helped other countries also. Shane Watson, Yusuf Pathan, Ambati Rayadu, Sunil Narine are the findings of IPL.
When IPL starts its journey in 2008 no one ever thought that this would come so far .First three season of IPL were wonderful. But in its fourth season its rating went down and everyone thought that this would be the end of this most happening cricketing event of India. In year 2011 its TV rating also dropped and people started blaming that number of matches should be cut down for its existence.
We can’t get everyday according to our will, there are days when we have to work hard to get ourselves on track. Same theory apply for IPL also, it started on a high node and than in between faced problems and now it again coming back to its glory.
This year on 3rd April 2013 it started its journey. First match was between KKR and DD. Both started from where they left last year. KKR was last year champion and DD performed in the same way as they played in last year’s semifinal. KKR beat DD easily in the first match and showed that they will play this tournament as defending champions.
In the first week of IPL bowlers dominated the game, out of 10 matches fate of 9 matches were decided by bowlers. Whether its Kevin cooper for RR or Vinay Kumar for RCB, this IPL had felt the heat from bowlers in its first week. It was a bowler’s week, except the 10th match between MI and DD in which Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma decided to get some respect for the community of batsmen.
Both of them played brilliant inning and first time in this IPL score of any team went above 200. The pitches were also helped bowlers and IPL-6 got its first superover in its first week. In 7thmatch between Sunrisers and RCB, at the end of the 20th over’s score of both team stayed on 130. In the superover Cameron White hit two huge sixes and Sunrisers scored 20 in their Supeover, in reply RCB able to score 15 runs. Dale Styen bowled a phenomenal superover otherwise 21 runs in 1 over was not a huge target for Gayle, who managed to hit only one six in that over.
In the first week of IPL Chris Gayle showed that he was ready to demolish the confidence of bowlers in this IPL. His inning of 93 off just 45 balls was one of the best he played till now in IPL. He was using a strategy which he initiated in last IPL , he remained unagitated and compose in few first over and when he get used to the conditions. He changes his gears very quickly and when batsmen like Gayle stayed on the wicket than it’s very difficult to get escape from their brutal hitting.
The most surprising thing about this week is that one of the strongest team in the IPL is at the bottom of the table and has no win registered in their account.
This was a bowlers dominating week and this increases the interest of crowd and cricket lovers in this IPL. Let’s hope that there will be more drama and excitement in coming week.
